Interaction Design 2017
Nomadic is the name of an app I worked on for a stealth startup in California. I am unable to disclose the client name, name of the app and altered some small UI components to maintain integrity to the company.
I worked alongside another product designer, and I focused on the UX design of the overall, and owned the entire 'explore' process. We worked alongside the client throughout the entire design process and I was able to present the final prototype to the client.
Our client came to us with a rather broad problem. Through research, it was determined that people who travel also want to meet new people, but currently 58% of people reported as 'unhappy' or 'satisfactory' with their ability to 'spontaneously meet new people'.
One of the proposed methods of solving this included having locals post 'tour groups' to take travellers on, similar to Airbnb.
We had a chance to sit down with the client to determine some of the user needs before we iterated on any more of the ideation. During an hour long session and prior research conducted by the Strategy team, we came up with the above personas.
I proposed a few ideas for the basic thought process of the app to the client. This below workflow resonated the most with them after the persona created, as they liked the idea of spontaneous planning. Through research, me and a product analyst found that solo travellers sometimes find themselves longing for more social interactions, get bored of touristy attractions and get bored of their planned days. They long for spontaneous and unplanned activities.
